Rev. Victor Omar Ortiz & Family
Omar was born in Puerto Rico into a Christian family and doesn’t
remember a day when he didn’t know Christ as his Savior. He moved to
Miami as a young boy and in high school began to truly understand
the grace and power of Christ’s work and the Gospel.
While in college, Omar began to feel a call towards ministry.
Throughout college Omar served as a youth minister at Faith
Presbyterian church in Miami. After graduating from Trinity
International University, he taught middle-school Bible for a couple
of years before moving to Orlando to attend Reformed Theological
Seminary. During seminary Omar led the college ministry at St.
Paul’s Presbyterian church. He met, his future wife, Kate at RTS and
they were married after they both graduated from the Seminary in
2004 - Omar with a Master of Divinity and Kate with a Master of Arts
in Biblical Studies.
That same year Omar was called as an assistant pastor to Old
Cutler Presbyterian Church in Miami. He was privileged to work
alongside Craig Branson, a former pastor at LOPC. Omar was ordained
there and served the people of Old Cutler for four and a half years.
During his time at Old Cutler he was in charge of pastoral care. He
had the opportunity to spend time and minister to everyone from
homebound widows to new parents. He oversaw the church’s mercy
ministry, working closely with the deacons, and ministry to young
families.
While in Miami Omar and Kate added two sons to their family -
Elisha (3) and Asher (1). Both Omar and Kate have a heart for
hospitality and enjoy opening their home to others. They are both
avid readers and cooks and enjoyed spending time explor
