In
May 2007 we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the founding of
Lake Osborne Presbyterian Church. Many former members came and joined
in the festivities as we give thanks to God for His goodness to us here.
It was a wonderful "church family reunion."
We planned a series of events over the first weekend in May to commemorate
this anniversary. The highlights included a Friday night banquet at
the Holiday Inn in Boynton Beach , a Saturday afternoon old-fashioned
country barbeque, an anniversary worship service on Sunday morning (followed
by a covered dish luncheon), and a Sunday evening musical festival.
This anniversary celebration came at a very strategic time in the
life of our church. We are engaged in a focused revitalization process.
Our prayer is that God will again stir us "From Embers to a Flame."
We are rejoicing to see many evidences of God's blessing these efforts
in such things as
- fresh life in our youth ministry
- new passion in our worship
- increased numbers in attendance
- deepening of our prayer life
- renewed attention to officers' shepherding roles
- more focused attention on reaching out to the lost in our own
neighborhood as well as on foreign missions fields
And now, to top it off, comes this anniversary celebration!
Please
pray for us as we seek to become more and more the kind of church God
wants us to be. And visit our church web site (www.LOPCA.org), which
is in the process of development. It will acquaint you with many of
the dynamics of spiritual life and ministry here at Lake Osborne.
